You&amp;rsquo;ve got sawdust and fine wood particles floating everywhere, and as anyone who&amp;rsquo;s spent a day in the shop knows, that stuff is basically fuel.&#xA;If you toss in some quartz infrared lamps for drying or curing without a real plan, you&amp;rsquo;re playing with fire. Literally. If the system isn&amp;rsquo;t built for a dusty environment, that heat density can ignite airborne particles in a heartbeat.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Keeping things cool where it counts&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We tackle this by focusing on two things: how hot the surfaces get and how well everything is sealed.&#xA;Most standard quartz tubes get way too hot on the outside. To fix that, we tweak the wattage-to-length ratio. The goal is to push the heat forward using shortwave radiation instead of just heating up the air around the tube. This stops that &amp;ldquo;convection trap&amp;rdquo; where a floating piece of dust hits the glass, overheats, and flashes into a fire.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The hidden danger: the wiring&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Here&amp;rsquo;s the thing: the tube usually isn&amp;rsquo;t what fails first. It&amp;rsquo;s the terminals.&#xA;Sawdust can actually conduct electricity if it gets damp. If that gunk builds up around your lamp connectors, you get arcing. To stop that, we use sealed, high-temp connectors that keep the dust out of the electrical contact points.&#xA;And you&amp;rsquo;ll want to pair these lamps with a solid reflector housing. A polished aluminum reflector does more than just make the lamp more efficient—it acts like a shield, keeping the bulk of the dust away from the energized quartz.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The balancing act&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;High-output quartz lamps are great because they cure things fast. But that power comes with a catch.&#xA;Your ventilation has to be up to the task. If your exhaust can&amp;rsquo;t keep the air clear, no amount of clever lamp design will save you. You have to balance your lamp&amp;rsquo;s wattage with how much air your vacuum system is actually moving (the CFM).&#xA;If you crank up the power but keep a weak vacuum, you&amp;rsquo;re just creating a heat soak. And that&amp;rsquo;s a risk you really don&amp;rsquo;t want to take.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
